Since everyone is looking forward to better times in 2021 which is around the corner, I’ll not be my caustic self today.
In fact, I’m in good spirits and feeling generous, so I’d like to present the Best Ones Of The Year (BOOTY) Awards 2020.
It’s no surprise that politicians almost made a clean sweep. A couple of movies deservedly dominated the awards.
Just read on.
Best Picture: Pandemic 2020.
It wins hands down over other nominees like Roadblock Tak Pasal Pasal, Quarantine Cheats, Table For Two, Everything Also Saman, Wear Mask Cannot Breathe, Not Sure About The Vaccine, and a few others.
Best Director: The trio of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for the movie Confusion.
Best Actor: This award was scrapped as there are too many of them out there (They wayang a lot).
Best Actress: This award was also scrapped for the same reason.
Best Supporting Actor: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for having the best support in the movie I Have The Numbers.
Best Supporting Actress: Datin Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail for giving Anwar the best support all these years in the movie Your No.1 Kipas.
Best Drama: The Sheraton Move.
There were other deserving dramas like Tiga Puluh Renggek, Nanti Abah Rotan, The Bung Sacrifice, Silence of the MPs, Parliament Walkout, Pengkhianat, Jab Moo First, Ultra Virus, etc. The Sheraton Move, however, captured the attention of the whole nation and gets my vote.
Best Animated Feature Film: Do-Rina-emon which encourages women to speak Doraemon style to maintain a harmonious relationship with their husbands.
Best Cinematography: Hotel Sandakan.
The cinematography in this movie is so superb that experts from all over the world could not identify the actors although they bare it all.
Best Costume (Male): Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob during his press conferences in the movie The Inconsistent SOPs.
Best Costume (Female): Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin wearing full personal protective equipment during a sanitisation exercise in the movie Dressed To Kill.
Best Film Editing: Hotel Sandakan.
No explanation needed.
Best International Feature Film: The China Connection.
A movie about how politicians say mainland Chinese must not be given business privileges but the same politicians give mainland Chinese business privileges.
Best Live Action Short Film: Hotel Sandakan.
The action is live and “it” is short.
Best Makeup and Disguise: MPs who switch parties and allegiance by hopping like frogs in the movie 222 Jump Streak.
Best Original Song: Kesana Kesini in the movie Abah – The Moo-sical.
Best Sound: TikTok, TikTok, TikTok.
Tale of Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and a handful of other politicians who go big in TikTok to try and stay relevant.
Best Visual Effects: Hotel Sandakan.

Best Newcomer: This award is also known as Best New Noisemaker. It goes to Batu MP P. Prabakaran who cries foul after getting arrested for violating the Movement Control Order in the movie Help People Also Cannot.
Lifetime Achievement: Lim Kit Siang for being the loudest opposition voice since the 1970s. His latest horror movie is Keep Screaming.
Besides the above awards, I decided to have a few special categories:
Biggest Spoiler: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for time and again spoiling Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s attempts to become Prime Minister in the movie PM, I Hate You.
Best Disaster Movie: Kasi Antam, Bah.
It’s a movie about the Sabah elections which were a disaster as Covid-19 cases shot up like crazy. Again, no thanks to power-hungry politicians.
Biggest Covidiot: Politicians in the movie Pandemic 2020.
Biggest Villain: Coronavirus in the movie Pandemic 2020.
Politicians come a close second for causing so much grief, also in Pandemic 2020.
Special Mention: Politicians for their outstanding role in the movie Double Standards.
Finally, here are the ones who should really be appreciated. Hats off to them:
Most Valiant: The rakyat, many of whom are in much difficulty, for putting up with the two biggest villains – the coronavirus and politicians – in Pandemic 2020. We’ll see this through together. #KitaJagaKita
Best Hero: Frontliners in the movie Pandemic 2020. A big thank you to them. Their contributions are priceless.
Most Loved: Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah for doing what politicians failed to do – saying sensible things and giving the rakyat hope, in the movie Pandemic 2020. Thank you, sir.
That’s about it for the BOOTY Awards 2020. It’s no fun that politicians hogged the limelight, so I have decided this will be the first and last such award presentation.
Thank you, dear readers for putting up with my farcical articles throughout 2020. All I wanted to do was keep you entertained during such a difficult year.
