As the theatrical farce of recognising a Palestinian state unfolds at the United Nations, the killings of Palestinians and the destruction of their homes by Israel continue unabated.
The Israeli propaganda machine, backed by the Americans and Europeans, has advanced the absurd notion that Israel is defending itself and that its security is threatened by Hamas. This macabre narrative is untenable when one considers that Hamas, a resistance organisation, is merely a ragtag militia without an army, air force, navy, or nuclear weapons – all of which Israel possesses.
Western countries have promoted Israel as the victim and Hamas as the aggressor, endlessly repeating the mantra that Israel has the right to defend itself. This belies the fact that the illegal settler colony has systematically perpetrated atrocities against Palestinians, killing hundreds of thousands since Palestinian lands were seized to establish Israel in 1948.
Since then, Palestinians have been imprisoned and enslaved in their own homeland. What is diabolical is that Arab states – especially Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Bahrain – abet Israel and the United States in perpetuating the genocide of the Palestinian people.
Due to pressure from South American, African, and Asian nations, the United Nations passed a resolution to recognise a Palestinian state and called for a cessation of hostilities. Some European countries, which have long supplied arms to Israel, have now shifted their stance to recognise the Palestinian state. However, their recognition remains conditional, in deference to Israeli and American interests.
These conditions, together with former US President Donald Trump’s 20-point Peace Plan, are nothing more than an attempt to recolonise Palestine and ensure the continuation of an apartheid state of oppression and killings. It even calls for the surrender of Hamas.
The farce lies in the fact that those who perpetrated genocide, destruction, and killings in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem are now to supervise and administer the supposed ‘free’ state of Palestine. Israel still controls access to Gaza and the West Bank, perpetuating the imprisonment of Palestinians and the violation of international human rights laws.
This plot by Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu aims to maintain the oppression of Palestinians, with the eventual goal of evicting them to establish a ‘Greater Israel’.
Palestine has long existed but was confiscated by the British and Americans to establish the illegal colony of Israel. Thus, the question of recognising a Palestinian state does not arise. What is needed is the recognition of Israel as an illegal belligerent settler colony that must cede all annexed land and return to its 1948 boundaries.
However, the United Nations lacks the authority to enforce its resolutions and can only offer empty rhetoric in the halls of deception and false hope. America and Israel have ignored all resolutions with impunity. As long as the veto system exists in the Security Council, the United States will veto any move against Israel or in favour of Palestine.
Trump is nothing more than Israel’s puppet, manipulated by Netanyahu and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) to serve Israel’s agenda. The US Congress and Senate have approved multibillion-dollar arms deals for Israel to continue its genocide.
The theatrical farce of a Palestinian state will continue as long as America, its presidents – past, present, and future – Congress, and the House of Representatives support Zionist Israel. The European Union and the gullible Arab states, subservient to America and Israel, will continue denying Palestinians the right to their homeland.
