The Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) is celebrating a defining milestone in the global fight for integrity in sport with the launch of Sport Integrity Action Month.
Evolving from the highly successful Sport Integrity Week, Sport Integrity Action Month expands the world’s leading thought-leadership platform into a month-long global action movement, uniting governments, sports bodies, athletes, businesses, media, and civil society. By increasing its scope and duration, the initiative will amplify impact, accelerate reform, and strengthen accountability across the entire sport ecosystem.
Born as a digital-only initiative in 2020 during the global pandemic, Sport Integrity Week quickly grew into a hybrid global powerhouse, with events and participation spanning continents. After two fully-virtual editions, a landmark in-person edition in Lisbon, and two dynamic hybrid editions, SIGA and its members have now endorsed the strategic evolution into a month-long campaign of coordinated action and engagement.
Formally approved at the SIGA General Assembly on July 31, this transformation underscores the Alliance’s commitment to leading the global integrity agenda with vision, inclusivity, and measurable impact.
The launch on Oct 31 will feature:
- Curated and open-source events across all continents.
- A global leadership roadshow engaging decision-makers worldwide.
- The active participation of athletes, youth, innovators, and thought leaders.
The spotlight will be on urgent priorities shaping the future of sport:
- Good governance, anti-corruption and financial integrity.
- Sports betting integrity.
- Youth development.
- Technology, innovation and global business.
- Environmental, social and economic sustainability.
- Athlete voices and digital integrity in sport.
Commenting on the initiative, co-founder and global chief executive officer Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros (main image) issued a powerful call to action.
“Today we reaffirm a simple truth: SIGA will not slow down. We will not stop. Not until sport and all its stakeholders act as one and place integrity at the very top of the global agenda. The challenges we face are clear, and so are the solutions,” said de Medeiros.
“Empty words and half measures are worth nothing. Real reform is long overdue – and only through the full adoption of the SIGA Universal Standards and the independent scrutiny provided by SIRVS can sport safeguard its reputation and credibility, and earn the trust it needs and deserves.”
He added that this was a collective responsibility.
“This is our shared moment. We call upon governments, sponsors, regulators, sports organisations, athletes, media, and society at large: side with SIGA. Take action. Together, we can, and we must, deliver the change the world of sport has been waiting for,” he said.
