The Youth and Sports Ministry will explore working together with other ministries that have initiated youth-related programmes.
Its minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, said it was important to explore such a working partnership, as recently, more and more ministries are coming up with youth-centric initiatives.
“We must always be creative in finding solutions through youth-related programmes, so that such initiatives can be further strengthened, and eventually, become an alternative choice for our youths,” said Ahmad Faizal.
On Saturday night, the government agreed to appoint a Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) youth representative as a member of Felda’s board of directors.
The Housing and Local Government Ministry, for example, is working on several plans, including allocating more housing for youths, and easier financing schemes for first-time home buyers.
“The Youth and Sports Ministry must go beyond their comfort zone to ensure that there are a multitude of approaches, en route to empowering our youths.”
Ahmad Faizal said this during the Youth and Sports Ministry’s Chinese New Year do at the National Sports Council in Bukit Jalil this morning.
He was bullish that the Year of the Tiger will bring luck and success to the ministry and its stakeholders.
“The ministry started the year with a series of post-floods volunteer activities. The strategic partnership between the ministry and the private sector to assist flood victims had helped the volunteers carry out their work easily.
“I hope to see similar cooperation in the near future.”
