Tan Sri Al Amin Abdul Majid is retiring from badminton with his resignation as Badminton Asia vice-president.
It is learnt Al Amin sent an email to the regional body about a month before the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta-Palembang. The regional Games was held from Aug 18 to Sept 2.
Badminton Asia chief operating officer Kenny Goh confirmed receiving Al Amin’s resignation letter.
Al Amin, who is currently abroad, said:
“I’m retiring from all – Perak BA, Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) and Badminton Asia. (It’s a) full retirement. I’ve been involved too long.”
Al Amin has been in the badminton scene for decades, having served as Perak BA president and BAM adviser. His profile on Badminton Asia and BAM remains on the respective websites.
He was also chef de mission for the national contingent at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
