Angela Lee to prove she is Atomweight queen

Angela Lee in action

Angela ‘Unstoppable’ Lee returns to Ryogoku Kokugikan, Tokyo after seven months to face ONE women’s Strawweight world champion ‘The Panda’ Xiong Jing Nan – with her Atomweight title on the line at ONE: Century tomorrow morning.

After her failed attempt at the Strawweight title in March, the Evolve MMA representative is confident she is well-prepared to face Xiong in her natural weight class.

“I learned a lot. I’ve studied what went wrong in that fight and what went right. I know my training and my preparation will be my key to success in this rematch,” Lee said.

Despite the losses at Strawweight, Lee remains dominant and undefeated in the Atomweight division and is confident that she can keep it that way in Japan.

Fight for Change 2019

“I do feel fighting at Atomweight will be in my favour,” Lee said.

“I’ve been here many times and this is where I am undefeated. Xiong has never been down to Atomweight. My advantages are that in our previous fight, I was winning every round up until the fifth. I know where I need to take this fight to win.”

Humbled in her last two bouts, Lee’s quest to become a better martial artist continues.

“I’ve had time to reflect on my past two fights, and I don’t want them to be in vain.”

“I feel I have learned so much since then, and the losses have only motivated me to become a better martial artist. My team and I have been working harder than ever in all areas. My dad, my brother, and my husband have been working day and night on our strategy, and I’ve been training with fighters of all different styles – wrestling, boxing, Jiu-Jitsu and MMA.”

Lee’s recent setbacks have given her enough motivation to counter anything Xiong throws her way.

“I don’t want to say what I will or will not do. I will adapt no matter the situation and will find a way to win.”
