Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Putrajaya will be under Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) from 12.01am on Wednesday until Oct 27. This comes after a spike in Covid-19 cases in the Klang Valley.
The announcement by Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob saw people rushing to buy essentials at supermarkets and grocery stores. This is despite daily assurances by Ismail Sabri for months that there’s enough food supply for everyone.
Ismail Sabri also announced that the whole of Sabah will be placed under CMCO beginning Oct 13 at 12.01am until Oct 26.
Under CMCO, inter-district travelling will be barred and workers will need to show their work pass or consent letter from employers to move from one district to another.
Here’s a reminder of what CMCO means:
- Only two people from a house are allowed to go out to buy necessities.
- All schools, institutions of higher learning, skills training institutes, kindergartens, nurseries, tahfiz centres, public parks and recreation centres are closed.
- Mosques and other non-Muslim houses of worship are closed.
- All sports, recreational, social and cultural activities, including weddings, are not allowed.
- Entertainment centres and nightclubs are to remain closed.
- Dine-in at restaurants not forbidden but is discouraged. It is up to the owner of the premises to determine the best method for service – dine-in, take away or delivery.
However, all economic activities in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya can operate as usual.

SIX POLICE REPORTS AGAINST ANWAR OVER PM CLAIMS
Bukit Aman has summoned PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for questioning after six police reports were lodged against him over claims 121 MPs are supporting him to become the next prime minister.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk Huzir Mohamed said an investigation has been initiated under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, following reports on the 121 MPs published by several online portals.
Anwar has been granted an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah tomorrow regarding the matter.

Former national player Maninderjit Singh says we are not tapping enough athletes from our universities.
“Let’s face facts, there is not much emphasis on sports in universities. It’s purely academic.
“The stakeholders spend eight to 10 years investing in grassroots (schools) but the missing link is at the university level,” the Olympian told Twentytwo13.
