Companies under essential services will have to print out the latest Covid-19 Intelligent Management System (CIMS) 3.0 letter from the International Trade and Industry Ministry’s website.
The new letters have been available since yesterday.
The ministry, in a statement today, said the new CIMS 3.0 letter will bear the acronym PPN – which stands for the National Recovery Plan (NRP) – under the QR code.
Enforcement personnel will be able to retrieve details of the company and list of workers registered in the system by scanning the QR code.
Businesses that are allowed to operate in Enhanced Movement Control Order areas, however, can still use their existing CIMS 3.0 letters bearing the acronym PKP 3.0 under the QR code.
“The ministry would like to remind industry players to be responsible and adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs). Non-compliance by companies is an offence under Act 342,” read the ministry’s statement.
A ministry insider clarified that any letter issued by the ministry would be deemed invalid if the company was not listed as essential services “as the SOPs supersede everything else”.
The letter can also be used by employees to travel to work. They will be allowed to pass through roadblocks set up by the police if they present the latest CIMS 3.0 to the officers.
The lockdown was imposed following the spike in Covid-19 cases. However, essential services were allowed to operate, with strict regulations in place.
Malaysia today recorded 7,654 new Covid-19 cases. Selangor topped the list with 3,260 cases followed by Kuala Lumpur (1,550 cases) and Negeri Sembilan (698).

SAIFUDDIN ABDULLAH: SPECIAL PARLIAMENT SITTING BEST OPPORTUNITY TO DEBATE COVID-19 MEASURES
Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah said the special sitting of the Dewan Rakyat scheduled later this month would allow MPs to debate measures that had been taken to address the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Hopefully, fresh ideas will be borne out that can improve these measures,” Saifuddin said.
The Prime Minister’s Office, in a statement yesterday, said that a special sitting of the Dewan Rakyat would be held for five days from July 26-29 and on Aug 2, while the Senate would reconvene for three days starting Aug 3.
MPs would be briefed about the National Recovery Plan. The special sitting was to also amend legislations and rules that would enable the Parliament sitting to be held in a hybrid manner.
MANY B40 UNAWARE THEY SUFFER FROM NCD
A total of 151,729 individuals out of 457,462 people in the B40 group who underwent health screening via the Healthcare Scheme for B40 Group (PeKa B40) were diagnosed with at least one non-communicable disease (NCD).
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba, who presented the PeKa B40 Report 2019-2020 today, said among the NCDs detected through the screening were diabetes (10.4 per cent), high cholesterol (29.8 per cent), high blood pressure (13.8 per cent) and mental health problems such as depression (1.6 per cent) and anxiety (1.4 per cent).
He said prior to the screening, they had never undergone any health checks, let alone follow-up treatments.
GOF PERSONNEL DEPLOYED TO RAUB FOLLOWING THORNY DURIAN ISSUE
Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said General Operation Forces (GOF) personnel have been deployed to Raub, Pahang, to maintain public order following a dispute between the state Forestry Department enforcement officers and durian farmers.
He admitted there were certain parties who were unhappy with the situation there but reminded them to air their grouses in a proper manner.
“The issue of trespassing on the land comes under the jurisdiction of the (Raub District) Land Office and (Pahang) Forestry Department. Our job is to ensure that peace is maintained while the authorities do their jobs.”
Eighteen durian farmers were detained recently and brought to the Raub Court Complex yesterday.
The farmers were remanded after they were alleged to have illegally encroached into the Batu Talam Permanent Forest Reserve to grow durians.

TURTLES DISAPPOINTED OVER CANCELLATION OF AFC CUP ASEAN ZONE
Terengganu FC head coach Nafuzi Zain admitted his footballers were left dejected following the Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) decision to cancel the Asean zone AFC Cup this year.
AFC was unable to get a new host for the championship after Singapore withdrew as host due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The last time the East Coast team qualified in a regional competition was in 2012.
“Such an opportunity does not come often and the tournament was meaningful to the players in getting international exposure,” Nafuzi said.
The Turtles would now focus on the Super League, which is scheduled to resume on July 24.
