Find a goal and you can lose weight

Staying fit and eating right can be made easy if one has a final goal.

Actor, model and martial artist Peter Davis said many tend to quit halfway through their losing weight or staying in shape routine due to the lack of reason or a goal.

“Everyone says they want to lose weight but they don’t lose weight. It’s because they don’t have a final goal, a reason to do it,” said Davis.

“The reason why I lose or maintain my weight is for competitions. People go on a diet but if there isn’t a final goal, they will eventually ask themselves ‘What is the point, really?'”

At 39, Davis admitted he can’t fight forever but would like to compete in the veteran’s category in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.

“The other problem is people want to maintain an active lifestyle but have to work. They wake up early, go for a run, go to work, get everything their boss asks them to do, go home, get stuck in traffic and socialise.

“I enjoy socialising and going out but when I have a competition, I have a reason not to go out … a reason to focus on staying in shape.”

He said it was crucial for those intending to work out to shift their focus on what is important in their lives.

“If you are going to have your fingers in a lot of pudding, it’s going to be tricky.”
Davis shared his insights on The RSS with HD, aired on YouTube, over the weekend.
