All eyes are on the upcoming Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) Summit on Female Leadership in Sport that has attracted several big names in the sports industry, worldwide.
Among the thought leaders and senior industry executives who will be part of the hybrid summit in Manhattan, New York, on March 8 and 9, are The Football Association women’s football director Sue Campbell, Nike’s social and community impact vice-president Cailtin Morris, Mastercard’s executive vice-chair Ann Cairns, and National Women’s Soccer League interim chief executive officer, Marla Messing.
The event is part of SIGA’s efforts to advance good governance in the industry and instigate positive change. SIGA has been driving gender equity opportunities through its #SIGAWomen Global Mentorship Programme, which is now in its fourth annual cycle.
SIGA chief operating officer and SIGA Women Programme managing director, Katie Simmonds, said the summit is a testament to the powerful global community of women.
“We are doing so with one purpose … To create gender equity in the boardroom of sports organisations worldwide,” said Simmonds.
“This is good governance in action. This is what SIGA is spearheading through our universal standards on good governance in sports.
“High calibre women leaders and men champions are answering our call, from all strata of the industry. This shows that we can win this cause,” she added.
