Harimau Malaya quarantine training

The Youth and Sports Ministry and National Security Council have given the FA of Malaysia the green light to allow Harimau Malaya to conduct quarantine-based training.

“Following discussions with FAM president (Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin), they can use the National Sports Council premises as their training centre,” Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said in a statement

The national team were scheduled to start training last Saturday but had to shelve their plans after Selangor and Kuala Lumpur were among the states to be placed under the Movement Control Order (MCO) from Jan 13-26.

The team is preparing for the 2022 World Cup/2023 Asian Cup second round qualifiers next month. Malaysia is second in Group G after collecting nine points from five matches.

Separately, Reezal Merican said athletes undergoing the Podium Programme training, including the national para and back-up athletes, would continue to train as usual using the quarantine-based approach.
