Playing in an empty stadium is not the best experience ever, says footballer S. Subamaniam.
“I feel bored. You used to hear both sides screaming but not now. I miss the boos and cheers,” said the Kuala Lumpur FA player.
“We need the supporters to boost our performance.”
Fans have been barred from the stands due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, that seems to be the only ‘complaint’ Subramaniam has as he is eager to help the city side dribble their way into the Super League next season.
KLFA is second in the Premier League with 17 points from eight matches – three points shy of leaders Penang FA which has also played eight matches.
Penang edged KLFA 2-1 in their encounter over the weekend.
“I really hope KLFA will be back in the Super League,” added the former international who joined the city side this season.
Subramaniam was on the talk show The RSS with HD over the weekend.
He pointed out it was crucial for the guardians of football – the FA of Malaysia and state FAs – to compile statistics of players.
“It should be done. Such data is good for the players and the teams as it would also be used to improve the players or teams’ performances.”
Subramaniam was also asked about the role that should be played by FAM’s technical director.
Datuk Ong Kim Swee is said to replace Peter De Roo as technical director as the latter’s contract expires in December. An official announcement will be made soon.
Asked what he would do if offered the position, Subramaniam said: “I will send our coaches to Japan and South Korea to embrace new coaching methodologies.”
“Football is changing and evolving quickly. We need to inject new ways and be at par with the other footballing nations,” he added.
