Latest Middle East ceasefire perpetuates colonialism in Palestine

Gathering at the Boston Public Library- Central Library, Boylston Street, Boston, MA, USA in January 2024.

A circus landed in Cairo last week, complete with clowns, for a special ceasefire act – a show that has been staged repeatedly since the establishment of the illegal settler colony of Israel at the expense of the Palestinian people.

The same modus operandi is continuously replayed, using the Zionist-American template. The Palestinians remain excluded from the process, treated as a subservient group expected to submit to the dictates of Israel, America, and Britain.

These latter two powers are the root cause of the Israel-Palestine conflict, having seized Palestinian lands to establish Israel in 1948. The very parties that provoked the conflict and armed Israel to kill hundreds of thousands of Palestinians are now calling for a ceasefire.

While many nations – apart from America – recognise a Palestinian state and condemn Israel’s atrocities as genocide, the US continues to provide unwavering support and military aid to Israel.

Previous ceasefires have always been deceptions, ignoring Palestinian rights in favour of the Zionist state, which seizes more land after every supposed truce. The current ceasefire is no different but comes with the added agenda of glorifying US President Donald Trump’s ego as a peacemaker – despite his complicity in the genocide of the Palestinian people through his support for Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

This ceasefire serves only as a cover-up to deflect attention from the crimes committed by Netanyahu and Trump, who are responsible for the slaughter of 60,000 Palestinians and the destruction of Gaza. It does not acknowledge the Palestinians’ right to their homeland or self-governance.

It is abundantly clear that the ceasefire is nothing more than a ploy to further colonise Palestine, expel its people, and force Hamas into unconditional surrender – allowing America and Israel to seize the land and subjugate its people.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has already threatened to resume bombing and killing Palestinians if Hamas does not comply with the hostage issue – a situation easily manipulated through lies and propaganda to justify renewed assaults. Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir has likewise threatened to cut supplies and aid to Gaza.

These threats expose the Trump-brokered ceasefire as a sham. Israel will continue to starve and kill Palestinians at will, without honouring the agreement, which exists only to facilitate the return of hostages.

In truth, the ceasefire entrenches the colonisation of Palestine by America and Israel, perpetuating the apartheid state that oppresses Palestinians and pushes them towards eventual expulsion to create a greater Israel.

Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer have shown no sympathy for the plight of the Palestinians. They express remorse for the released Israeli hostages, but none for the 60,000 innocent Palestinians slaughtered by the rogue state of Israel.

The ceasefire is nothing more than a circus – with Trump as the ringmaster and clown. The gullible Arab leaders at the signing ceremony were taken for a ride, witnessing Trump, in collusion with Netanyahu, preside over the slow, orchestrated demise of Palestine.
