As the saying goes, the apple does not fall very far from the tree.
Tengku Puteri Jihan Azizah ‘Athiyatullah Al-Sultan Abdullah seems to have found her passion in the arts and crafts – something which her mother, Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah is already heavily involved in.
The princess has been active in the arts and crafts scene, including in the weaving of batik, painting, and photography.
In a recent video by Institut Kemahiran Tenun Pahang Diraja (IKTPD), Tengku Puteri Jihan was seen weaving using a table loom, painting batik, drawing, and even showing her paintings to her father, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

IKTPD, in its comment, said it hoped that the art heir from the palace would continue to preserve the arts and crafts in the country.
For the record, Tunku Azizah has championed Malaysian batik, in particular, the Tenun Pahang Diraja. She also plays an instrumental role in the annual London Craft Week. This year’s edition, featuring heritage crafts from Malaysia – namely weaved baskets, mats, wooden carvings, and textile products – was held in May at the Malaysian High Commission, in London.
Also in the works is the Tunku Azizah Royal Craft Village in Pekan, Pahang, which is scheduled to be completed early next year.
