Malaysia has begun preparations for this year’s National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations, following the announcement of the official theme for the events.

The Cabinet, during its meeting on April 9, endorsed ‘Malaysia Madani: Rakyat Disantuni‘ (Malaysia Madani: People are cared for) as the theme for the 2025 celebrations. Merdeka will be celebrated on Aug 31, while Malaysia Day falls on Sept 16.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil revealed the theme at a press conference this afternoon.

The official logo, introduced previously, will remain in use for both celebrations until 2027. This continuity reflects the government’s long-term commitment to the Malaysia Madani framework — a concept that emphasises unity through diversity, and is grounded in values such as compassion, inclusivity, and good governance.

In a statement, the Information Department of Malaysia said the theme reflects the government’s aim to strengthen national development through a values-based approach centred on humanity, social wellbeing, and justice. The Malaysia Madani philosophy promotes a balanced integration of material and spiritual growth, with pillars that include economic advancement, administrative integrity, and national unity.

The phrase Rakyat Disantuni highlights the government’s focus on placing the welfare of the people at the core of its policies. It signals a continued commitment to inclusive growth, social equity, and responsive governance.

The department added that the theme is intended to strengthen the people’s sense of national identity while promoting unity across Malaysia’s multicultural society. The consistent use of the logo until 2027 reinforces continuity in advancing the Madani agenda.

A series of nationwide programmes and campaigns will be held in conjunction with the National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations. These activities aim to foster patriotism and bring communities together as the nation continues its journey towards progress and unity.
