Malaysia has secured RM15 billion in approved digital investments from Singapore-based technology companies.
These investments stem from the Malaysia Digital (MD) initiative – a national strategy designed to drive digital transformation, attract high-value investments, and strengthen the nation’s global competitiveness within the technology ecosystem.
Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo, who participated in the just-concluded Singapore International Cyber Week (SICW) 2025, said his visit aimed to deepen Malaysia-Singapore collaboration by fostering strategic partnerships, promoting cross-border innovation with key digital players, and positioning Malaysia as the gateway to Southeast Asia for global and regional technology companies.
“We are proud to witness such strong confidence from Singapore-based investors. This will accelerate the development of Malaysia’s data infrastructure and firmly position the nation as the region’s leading hub for technology and innovation in Asean,” said Gobind.
“We are excited to deepen this cross-border collaboration for mutual digital prosperity,” he added.
Several companies were officially awarded MD Status, including:
• AOLANI Cloud – committed RM10.8 billion to establish advanced data centres and cloud infrastructure in Malaysia to support high-performance computing and AI applications.
• MYS AssetCo (DDSP) – announced an initial RM1.7 billion investment to develop hyperscale data centres and supporting energy infrastructure.
• Easybook – invested RM1.4 billion to expand its digital mobility services, establishing a regional research and development centre and operations hub in Malaysia.
• Bitdeer Technologies Group – committed RM1.1 billion to set up blockchain digital infrastructure catering to global digital asset operations.
The total approved digital investments from Singapore in 2025 amounted to RM25.18 billion across key digital sectors, including data centres, artificial intelligence (AI) development, mobility solutions, and blockchain infrastructure.
While in Singapore, Gobind met Josephine Teo, Singapore’s Minister for Digital Development and Information. He was also involved in the SICW High-Level Panel on Diplomacy themed “Making Consensus Work: The UN and the Future of International Cyber Cooperation”. During the panel discussion, Gobind emphasised the importance of operational usability as a key component in ensuring effectiveness in the cyber world.
In conjunction with SICW 2025, Gobind and his team from Malaysia also attended the 10th Asean Ministerial Conference on Cybersecurity (AMCC), which discussed strengthening regional cyber resilience, enhancing cross-border data governance, and advancing multi-stakeholder collaboration to safeguard the region’s digital ecosystem.
