There are some weird folks out there.
Overnight, four men were arrested in Cairo after using masks of Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah as a disguise to rob a store.
A day earlier, two men wearing carved-out watermelons with holes cut out for their eyes, allegedly stole from a convenience store in a small Virginia town. One of the ‘melon heads’ has been arrested.
In Russia, a female nurse was suspended for only wearing lingerie under a see-through personal protective equipment gown as she was feeling hot. Temperatures of male patients were reportedly off the chart!
At home, a policeman chased down a car on foot but couldn’t stop the driver from getting away.

10am: ON HOLD? – Next year’s Oscars, scheduled for Feb 28, may be postponed due to the disruption caused by Covid-19.
10.47am: NOT A MOVIE – A video of a traffic cop who tries to stop a car by shooting at its tyres but to no avail becomes public two days after the incident. The car is later found abandoned with drugs found inside.

11.05am: GAMER GRANDMA – Hamako Mori, a Japanese woman known as ‘Gamer Grandma’ to her 250,000 YouTube subscribers, is the world’s oldest gaming YouTuber, according to the Guinness World Records. She is 90.
12.13pm: TENSION MOUNTS – Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen has been sworn in for a second term amid growing pressure from China, which claims the self-governing island as its own. Tsai’s party advocates Taiwan’s formal independence, something Beijing says it cannot accept.
1pm: IT FITS! – Surprise, surprise. I have no problem getting into my jeans – the first time in over two months that I have not worn shorts or a sarong.
1.44pm: STEP ON THE GAS – I finally travel outside the 10km radius imposed on April 1. Although the limit was lifted on April 29, there was no need to travel outside of Subang until today. The last time I went beyond 10km was on March 18 when I was in the office.
Traffic wasn’t too bad but there was a roadblock before the toll plaza heading out of Subang. Must be because there’s a turn off to a highway to Negeri Sembilan.
2pm: QUARANTINE CHARGES – Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says from June 1, all those entering Malaysia will have to pay RM150 for each day they are in mandatory quarantine. Malaysian citizens, however, will only pay 50 per cent of the charge. Those who want to return to Malaysia will have to sign a letter of undertaking to agree to bear the quarantine costs.
He also says the work from home order is still in place as schools and daycare centres have not resumed operations.
Meanwhile, the government will wait for Saudi Arabia to announce its decision on the Haj before deciding if Malaysians will be allowed to perform the annual pilgrimage.
Separately, only 20 people will be allowed to be on a set during film-making when production resumes next week.
4pm: HELLO, FARID – Farid Yunus, chief executive officer of redONE Network Sdn Bhd, was on the RSS with HD Extended today.
4.08pm: WELCOME BACK – English Premier League teams begin group training today.
4.33pm: UNWANTED MILESTONE – The number of cases exceeded 7,000 today when 31 new infections made it 7,009. The good news is 60 patients have been discharged, meaning 5,706 people have been cured. The better news is that there are no new deaths, so fatalities remain at 114.
6.30pm: LONE RANGER – The 2013 Lone Ranger movie flopped at the box office but I enjoyed it despite its flaws. The climax when we hear the William Tell Overture aka the Lone Ranger theme, starts one of the best action sequences in a Western or perhaps any movie. Astro showed it again last night and of course, I watched it. For those who haven’t seen it, here’s the scene. If you are interested in how it was put together, go to the start of the video or watch the scene and dialogue with the explanations at the bottom from the fourth minute onwards. I feel like cheering every time I hear it. Simply awesome.
