Olympic Sports Hotel to re-open soon

After being vacant for nearly two years, Olympic Sports Hotel Kuala Lumpur will re-open for business soon.

It is understood Johor Bahru-based Vinters Hotel Sdn Bhd will manage and maintain the hotel located in the heart of town at Jalan Hang Jebat.

The hotel is owned by the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) and started operations in September 1991 after two years of construction.

Painting and renovation are ongoing as the plan is to keep the name and sporty spirit of the hotel alive.

“There have been slight delays of supplies from China following the Covid-19 outbreak but the idea is for a soft launch before the 2020 Tokyo Olympics,” said a source.

Checks online reveal Vinters Hotel operates several boutique hotels nationwide, namely Pariss Hotel, Euro+ Hotel, Euro Rich Hotel, Euro Hotel, Gurney View Inn and O’wen Hotel.

“The monthly rental could be lower than before as the company has spent a lot of money renovating the hotel. Also, given the current economic climate, it’s best to get this going instead of leaving the place vacant for a long time.”

In 2018, OCM revealed that Chinese hotel chain Echarm would take over the running of the hotel. However, no work was carried out and the hotel has remained vacant since.
