His job was to protect the young orphans. Instead, an orphanage caretaker was slapped with 100 charges at the Ipoh Sessions Court, for 34 counts of physical and non-physical sexual assault on two brothers.
Emeer Ahmad Ahmad Jaafar, 35, pleaded not guilty to all charges under Section 14(a) and 15(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 before judge N. Priscilla Hemamalini.
The accused, who is also a businessman, was also charged with showing his private parts to the two brothers, aged 10 and 13. He allegedly carried out the heinous acts at the orphanage in Bandar Cyber Botani, a flat in Cameron Highlands, and in his own home in Taman Mangosa, Botani, between Nov 1, 2020, and April 9, 2021.
The court set bail at RM34,000 (RM1,000 for each case) and set Sept 3 for mention.
MALAYSIA GETS 1MDB-LINKED RM336M FROM DELOITTE
The Finance Ministry confirmed it has received RM336 million from Deloitte PLT in relation to 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
The ministry had, in a statement, said the money had been deposited into Malaysia’s Assets Recovery Trust Account.
The account has received RM16.39 billion of seized and repatriated 1MDB funds. The ministry said it would also receive RM2.83 billion from AmBank Group, as part of the settlement, “soon”.
The government had repaid RM12.54 billion of 1MDB’s debt and RM3.1 billion of SRC International Sdn Bhd’s debt.
ROBERT KUOK STILL RICHEST IN MALAYSIA
Tan Sri Robert Kuok is still the richest man in Malaysia with a fortune of US$12.2 billion, according to the 2021 Forbes Malaysia Rich List.
Dubbed the Sugar King, Kuok, who is 97, is also the oldest individual on the list.

The Dewan Negara Caucus on People’s Well-being wants to see the RM40 billion Pemerkasa Plus financial aid package be quickly disbursed.
Its chairman Datuk Razali Idris said among issues raised by the people are lack of efficiency and bureaucracy in distributing assistance announced by the federal government.
He said the aid distribution must be comprehensive and effective so as to reduce the burden of the people and help drive the economy.
COPS NAB MAN AFTER HIGH-SPEED CHASE IN PJ
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said a 34-year-old has been arrested following a high-speed chase in Petaling Jaya, yesterday.
Policemen on patrol had attempted to check the suspect’s vehicle when the driver sped off and drove recklessly, including through a residential area.
Police gave chase for about 20 minutes before stopping the vehicle in PJ Old Town.
“We chased the suspect for about 20 minutes before we stopped the vehicle outside of a bank at PJ Old Town,” he said.
Police found a tube containing 0.3g of heroin in the vehicle. The suspect tested positive for morphine following a urine test and had prior records for vehicle theft and other drug-related crimes.
