PEKAN: Pahang has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with representatives from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to pioneer a wind turbine project in the district of Pekan.
The agreement, formalised between Malaysian green technology firm Amat Bayu Sdn. Bhd. and UAE representatives yesterday, was witnessed by the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Shah, alongside the Crown Prince of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah.
Senior officials present at the ceremony included Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and UAE Ambassador to Malaysia Mubarak Saeed Ahmed Burshaid Al Dhaheri.
Amat Bayu director Datuk Ahmad Najmi Abdul Razak signed the agreement on behalf of the Malaysian enterprise.
The initiative aims to serve as a pilot venture to generate critical local wind data, test technical viability, and establish a foundational model for larger utility-scale onshore and offshore wind energy infrastructure across Malaysia.
Founded in 2020, Amat Bayu is a Malaysian renewable energy and sustainable development firm involved in large-scale biomass gasification, solar development, and sustainable forestry projects in Pahang.
The partnership builds on expanding economic ties between Malaysia and the UAE in green technology and infrastructure investments.
Pahang state authorities have targeted renewable energy growth, forest conservation, and carbon reduction aligned with Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), which targets 70 per cent renewable energy capacity in the national power grid by 2050.
