Perikatan Nasional’s Ampang parliamentary candidate Sasha Lyna Abdul Latif believes Pakatan Harapan (PH) will go on a witch-hunt against civil servants if it recaptures Putrajaya in the 15th General Election in Malaysia.
She was responding to PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli’s statement last night that Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner, Tan Sri Azam Baki will be called in for questioning if PH forms the next government.
Rafizi, during a rally at Dataran Larkin in Johor Bahru last night, said: “Saturday, we vote. After we win the general election, we will find Azam Baki. I know you (Azam) are watching. I hope when Pakatan Harapan wins, you won’t blame your brother again, claiming instructions came from him.”
“His (Rafizi’s) statement shows arrogance. There is definitely going to be a repeat of what happened in 2018,” Sasha told Twentytwo13 this morning.
“It would have been fine if they (PH) had acknowledged back then that they did not have the experience. Instead, the civil servants became the target of their ministers and deputy ministers.”
Sasha served MACC as legal officer to the chief commission and strategic communications department director, between 2019 and 2021.
She too, thought PH would bring about change in 2018.
“But I was disappointed with the way PH governed. I even told my family members before GE14 that we are capable of change. And there were many other civil servants who were like me who wanted change.
“Civil servants are voters as well and you cannot expect them to work with you if you are going on a witch-hunt after this,” she said.
Sasha said after occupying Putrajaya in 2018, PH leaders did not want to acknowledge that they were inexperienced and refused to cooperate with civil servants.
Raifzi’s data firm, Invoke Solutions Sdn Bhd, was raided by MACC twice in recent days, while the Royal Malaysian Customs Department had delivered a notice to inspect the firm’s documents. The anti-graft body was investigating Rafizi’s assets declaration, revealed on Nov 2, which he said amounted to RM18,851,350, as at Oct 31.
Rafizi also said his total holding of ordinary shares in Invoke was 2,087,598 shares, or 73 per cent of all ordinary shares issued.
On claims politicians were using government agencies to target the opposition in the run-up to GE15, Sasha said such agencies will only act if a report is lodged.
“Reports can be lodged by anyone, including politicians. MACC cannot sit idly by and not do anything after a report is made.
“In this case, it was Rafizi himself who had openly declared his assets. It’s not a case where people were snooping around. Yet, he is claiming he is being targeted,” she said.
