Dear Diary,
There was no jail time for Deputy Health Minister Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali and Semanggol assemblyman Razman Zakaria who were fined RM1,000 each for violating the Movement Control Order (MCO) – 11 days after a ‘lunch party’ at Maahad Tahfiz in Lenggong.
Thirteen others who were with them received the same fine.
Don’t Dr Noor Azmi and Razman’s salaries come from taxpayers? So in a way, the rakyat is paying the fine, right?
And what does this say of Perak police chief Comm Datuk Razarudin Husain who claimed from photos, the “participants were seated far apart from one another”?
The duo arrived in court in the SAME CAR! Isn’t that another violation of MCO?
Normal citizens have been immediately jailed AND fined for violating MCO. A single mum is fighting to get her sentence revised after being jailed 30 days.
Here’s how Day 42 of MCO unfolded.

2pm: NEW SOP – Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says the National Security Council is finalising new standard operating procedures for green zones which will remove some restrictions under MCO.
2.14pm: PAY US – Malaysian newspapers demand a share of ad revenue from Google, Facebook.
3.47pm: GET CHECKED – Recent visitors to two Petaling Jaya wet markets – Jalan Othman (April 5-18) and Taman Medan (April 11-25) – may have to undergo Covid-19 screening. Register here. A fish trader at the Jalan Othman market had contracted Covid-19 on April 24. He was identified as part of the Selayang Wholesale Market cluster, from where he obtained his supplies.
4.39pm: 100 DEATHS – Malaysia reached 100 deaths from Covid-19 with one fatality today. There are also 31 new cases which bring the total to 5,851. The good news is 75 more patients were discharged, bringing the number cured to 4,032 or a 68.9 per cent success rate.
