He was once described as rather “unfriendly”.
Post-May 9, Kuala Lumpur Mayor Tan Sri Mhd Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz is a changed man.
He is answering calls promptly and even entertaining visitors who walk into his office without appointments.
MPs and residents say this is a stark contrast to the man they knew previously.
Cheras MP Tan Kok Wai described the mayor as “extremely friendly” during their conversation last week.
“We spoke about several issues. He entertained all my request and queries,” said Tan.
“I was taken by surprise as he was extremely friendly.”
Protect Taman Desa Coalition media coordinator M. Gunasekar said representatives from his group had visited the mayor recently and they were given a “fantastic” reception.
“We met him without an appointment and he made time for us. He even came out of his office to greet us,” said Gunasekar.
“He told us he would see us in court when we took action against City Hall last year. But now he is urging us to pursue matters we feel strongly about.”
Mhd Amin Noordin, 62, was appointed mayor in 2015. He was City Hall’s director-general prior to his appointment. His tenure ends in July next year.
Kuala Lumpur MPs and residents have been making calls for local council elections to be re-introduced and for the mayor to be elected.
