Rare trading card fetches record RM205,000 in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian collectibles platform Collektr announced the successful sale of a rare, professionally graded trading card for RM205,000 to an international collector, setting the first known market benchmark for the asset.

The transaction for the PCG-graded card, known as ‘The Mind Stone’, comfortably surpasses Collektr’s previous record. The platform recently oversaw the sale of ‘The Soul Stone’ card for RM105,000, making it the first marketplace to facilitate benchmark transactions for two distinct ‘Infinity Stone’ cards.

The sale was processed through Collektr’s digital platform and supported by the local collector community at The Collective, Malaysia’s Wizards Play Network Premium store.

According to Collektr, the collaboration highlights how trusted digital infrastructure and established hobby communities are successfully positioning Malaysia as a key destination for globally significant pop-culture transactions.

“Landmark transactions do more than simply change ownership; they actively shape markets. Just as milestone auction sales define the value of fine art, classic motorcars and luxury watches, benchmark transactions provide enthusiasts with something equally valuable: market confidence,” Collektr said in a statement today.

“By establishing reliable reference points that collectors, dealers and future sellers can depend upon, transactions of this scale bring much-needed transparency to an emerging asset class.”

Founded in Malaysia, Collektr operates a hybrid marketplace and livestream auction platform catering to trading cards, comic books, toys and high-value fashion items across Southeast Asia. The ecosystem also includes CURIO, a ‘phygital’ platform designed to merge digital and physical assets into a transparent ownership model.

The platform’s recent portfolio of high-value sales includes a 20th Anniversary Festa Promo Pikachu-Holo, an Alpha Black Lotus Magic: The Gathering card, and vintage Pokémon TCG Base Set Booster Boxes.

“Every benchmark transaction moves the hobby forward,” said Adlin Yusman, founder and chief executive of Collektr.

“The significance of this transaction isn’t simply the price achieved. Collectors around the world now have the first known market benchmark for the Cosmic Mind Stone. Following the sale of the Cosmic Soul Stone, we’re proud to establish another milestone for Collektr and Malaysia … solidifying Malaysia as a hub for high-end collectibles, with Collektr at the tip of the spear,” Adlin added.

As the collectibles sector continues to evolve into a truly globalised market, secure marketplaces are playing an increasingly critical role.

Beyond merely facilitating trade, these platforms are responsible for creating the transparency, verification and price discovery required by the next generation of alternative investors.
