KT Tape Malaysia

Kinesiology Therapeutic Tape or KT Tape is an elastic sports tape designed to relieve pain while supporting muscles, tendons, and ligaments.

It has been around since the 1970s and but its popularity took off in Malaysia when the likes of shuttler Datuk Lee Chong Wei, diver Pandelela Rinong Pamg and other Malaysian athletes began using them.

In Malaysia, Sportsprises79 has been the official distributors of KT Tape for the past five years.

Many mixed martial artists also use the tape and this is one of the reasons why Sportsprises79 agreed to sponsor KT Tape for Fight For Change 2019 that will take place tomorrow at the Cobra Rugby Club in Petaling Jaya.

“Our company has been around for 40 years but have been the official distributor for KT Tape for the past five years,” said one of Sportsprises79’s managing partners, Peter Lee.

“Many athletes use KT Tape as it is suitable for all types of sports. It helps soothe injuries.”

When an area of the body is injured through impact or over-use, the lymphatic fluid builds up causing inflammation and swelling.

This accumulation of lymphatic fluids may cause increased pressure on muscles and tissue which can cause significant discomfort or pain.

It is believed that when applied correctly, KT Tape lifts the skin, decompressing the layers of fascia, allowing for greater movement of lymphatic fluid which transports white blood cells throughout the body and removes waste products, cellular debris, and bacteria.

“MMA is a physical sport and its athletes are prone to niggling injuries so KT Tape is perfect for them,” said Lee.

Fight For Change 2019 is co-organised by Twentytwo13 and the Malaysia Mixed Martial Arts Association (MASMMAA) and supported by the National Press Club of Malaysia (NPC).

The charity event is to change the way people view mixed martial arts (MMA) and to champion the welfare of journalists in Malaysia.

Proceeds will be channelled to NPC’s Journalist Welfare Fund and MASMMAA’s youth development fund.

Fight For Change 2019 will several MMA fights lined up leading up to Haresh Deol, co-founder and editor of Twentytwo13, taking on professional fighter Shareh ‘The Jeneral’ Nasrullah.
