Malaysia transitions from Covid-19 pandemic to endemic, starting today.
What does that mean?
For starters, Malaysians will be welcoming foreign tourists as the nation’s borders will be fully opened. There is no capacity limitation for events like wedding dinners and celebrations while children under 12 will be allowed to enter stadiums.
Eating and drinking at the stands are also allowed.
Here are the 10 rules for the ‘Transition to Endemicity’ phase that you need to know:
1. Wear face masks in crowded, public areas.
2. Maintain good hand hygiene.
3. Ensure one-metre physical distancing.
4. Test for Covid-19 as per the National Testing Strategy.
5. Check-ins via MySejahtera are still required (although this will be addressed soon, in light of the controversy surrounding the ownership of the company). MySJTrace is required for indoor events involving large numbers of people.
6. No physical distancing required during prayers in houses of worship; subject to guidelines by the state religious authorities and the Unity Ministry.
7. Operating hours must adhere to the permit, or licence.
8. Cleanliness of premises must be maintained.
9. Ensure there’s good ventilation in your premises.
10. No more limitation of capacity of workers in offices; interstate travel allowed, regardless of vaccination status.
For those visiting Malaysia:
As for land travel to Singapore, all fully vaccinated travellers, and non-fully vaccinated children aged 12 and below, are permitted to enter the republic without the need to undergo border health measures, such as testing and quarantine.
Revellers, however, will still not be able to hit the nightclubs, as they will remain shut.
