It has been a trying week.
On Wednesday, we were informed a resident in our apartment block had Covid-19. He was taken away in an ambulance. The same day, there was another case in an apartment near ours.
So all in, there are three Covid-19 cases within the Goodyear Courts in Subang Jaya, although they are spread out across a couple of kilometres.
As mentioned last week, several schools in Subang Jaya had cases either involving the students or their parents.
Now it is near my home. How scary is that!
My family and I are choosing to self-isolate for a couple of days, even though we have not received any instructions to quarantine ourselves.
We are doing so despite not knowing the unfortunate neighbour. And since we don’t know where he has been – the two cafes, swimming pools, gym or the mini-market – it’s better to be safe than sorry. The decision to self-isolate means I have more time to practise my culinary skills!
Thankfully, all the apartment block, lifts and walkways were immediately sanitised (main picture), although the owner of the unit would have to hire a company to sanitise his home.
Earlier today, there was another round of sanitisation which included the swimming pools and cafes.
Separately, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya entered Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) on Wednesday and the spike in cases is a big worry as Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah had already warned it was in the community.
Yesterday, there were 62 new cases in these three areas. CMCO could be extended as a week ago, there were only 36 new infections.
Overall, we have a total of 18,758 cases, up 4,036 since a week ago. Fatalities have increased by 24 to 176. This includes six yesterday, The highest number of deaths on a single day remains on March 29 when we had eight fatalities.
The good news is that on Thursday, there was a record number of recoveries – 409.
Worldwide, there are close to 39.6 million cases while there have been 1.1 million deaths.
Anyway, today is the 214th day of the Movement Control Order and this is the 18th weekly edition of ‘The MCO Diaries’.

I have said Astro shows lots of repeats but I do appreciate it. Its sports package allows me to watch nearly every Liverpool game – the exception is the League Cup as Astro doesn’t have the rights.
There are up to seven live matches from the Premier League each week. Plus the Champions League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and many other leagues.
We also have all the Grand Slam and other tennis tournaments. Ditto golf.
If speed gets you on, there’s always the Formula One and MotoGP races to get your adrenaline pumping plus a variety of other sports including badminton.
So what prompted this “love” for Astro?
Well, last week news broke that those in Britain would have to pay an additional £14.95 per game to watch their favourite team if it was not chosen to be broadcast.
This is on top of existing subscription fees for BT and Sky Sports (yes they have to pay two companies to watch football!)
The pay-per-view starts this weekend with five matches – Chelsea vs Southampton, Newcastle vs Manchester United, Sheffield United vs Fulham, Leicester vs Aston Villa and West Brom vs Burnley.
Fans of the ‘smaller’ teams would suffer as broadcasters are likely to feature the big clubs more often.
So ya, I’m grateful for Astro’s sports package.
WILL POLITICAL DRAMA FINALLY END?
Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim finally got to meet the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah on Tuesday.
The PKR leader, who says he has the numbers to take over the government, is yet to furnish the list of MPs who support him.
Sitting PM Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin still insists he has control of Parliament while Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah also met the Agong.

In case you’re wondering, this is because 1Utama Shopping Centre’s management refuted a report by Petaling District Disaster Management Committee claiming it had 63 Covid-19 cases. The Petaling District Office, meanwhile, revealed there were over 100 cases from the Utama cluster.
