KUALA LUMPUR: The 273rd Conference of Rulers meeting began at Istana Negara today, with the first day’s proceedings chaired by the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah.
His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, earlier welcomed the arrival of the Malay Rulers at Istana Negara.
Present at the conference were the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah; Sultan of Kedah, Al-Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah; and Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
Also present were the Regent of Terengganu, Tengku Muhammad Ismail; Crown Prince of Kelantan, Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Petra; and Tunku Temenggong of Johor, Tunku Idris Iskandar Sultan Ibrahim.
The four state Governors in attendance were Tun Mohd Ali Rustam of Melaka, Tun Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar of Sarawak, Tun Musa Aman of Sabah and Tun Ramli Ngah Talib of Penang.
The meeting is scheduled to run until Thursday. The previous Conference of Rulers meeting, held on Feb 11 and 12, was chaired by the Sultan of Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin.
