American companies in Malaysia have stepped on the gas during the Covid-19 pandemic by donating essential items worth more than RM5 million to frontliners and those in need.
The items include face masks, santisers, notebooks, thermometers and personal protective equipment (PPE).
The noble efforts of the more than 30 companies have caught the attention of US Ambassador Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir who also commended Malaysians for supporting each other.
The US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur is coordinating with the companies that are also members of the American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) to locate and address the various needs that have arisen as Malaysia faces the pandemic.
“American companies are an important part of communities throughout Malaysia, and we work closely with AmCham Malaysia,” said Lakhdhir.
“During these challenging times, I am inspired by watching how Malaysians are rallying to support one another and their communities. American businesses and their employees are doing their part as well.”
She added the contributions showcase the companies’ long histories of generosity.
“And as always, I am proud by this display of CSR – the hallmark which sets American businesses apart.”
The American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce has been actively promoting the good work of these organisations on its social media platform.
