Applications open for women leaders to join SIGA council, work towards change

Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) is presenting women leaders from all corners of the sporting ecosystem with a unique opportunity to lead reforms in sport integrity.

The world’s largest coalition in the field of sports governance and integrity, yesterday announced the launch of an application process that will see two women leaders join the SIGA council.

The appointment of these new members will fulfil SIGA’s commitment to gender parity in its organisation.

With this process, SIGA is taking affirmative action in their ongoing quest to advance good governance and deliver gender equity, and women empowerment and leadership in sports.

“This is an opportunity for women leaders to answer our call, take a step forward and press for change,” said SIGA global chief executive officer, Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros.

“SIGA is an open, democratic and independent organisation. We deliver what we promise. We walk the talk. We are breaking down barriers, delivering diversity and being inclusive.

“As a forward-thinking organisation, we encourage all women with whom our vision resonates, to step forward and join us. Our process is clear and transparent. Our doors are open to all who are committed to sport integrity.”

Italian magistrate and former minister Franco Frattini, chairs the SIGA Council. Mastercard’s global vice president, sponsorships & content marketing Alison Giordano, International Centre for Sport Security president Mohammed Hanzab and International Mixed Martial Arts Federation chief executive officer Densign White, serve as SIGA vice-chairs.

The remaining members include Karin Korb (United States paralympic champion), Kate Bevan (former F1 global director of hospitality and experiences), Eddie Marshbaum (Quest’s director of sports integrity) and João Paulo Almeida (director-general of the Portugal Olympic Council).

The SIGA Council will hold a special session to select the two members from the pool of candidates.

The deadline for submissions is April 28. All applications must be submitted by email to info@siga-sport.com, and must include a covering letter, a detailed resume, and references. Applicants will be subjected to an integrity check, pursuant to SIGA’s protocols.
