The presence of a leading global video game commerce company in Kuala Lumpur is seen as an endorsement of Malaysia’s role in the gaming sphere.
Yesterday, Xsolla launched its new office in Bangsar – its largest outside the company’s headquarters in Los Angeles, the United States. This is in addition to its offices in Berlin, Seoul, Singapore and Beijing, among others.
Establishing a footprint in Kuala Lumpur also represents the company’s continued expansion and commitment to the region, given that the global video game market is estimated at around more than US$200 billion this year.
“Xsolla recognises the importance of growth within the gaming industry and the region,” said Xsolla Malaysia managing director, Ilya Mamontov.
“By establishing a local entity within Kuala Lumpur, we will expand our network to help developers provide exclusive access to gamers and their preferred payment method to purchase their favourite games.
“Because of our regional expansion, we will be adding new talent to the Xsolla development team here in Kuala Lumpur to support the local efforts and our global team,” Mamontov added.
Xsolla provides industry-leading solutions, allowing video game developers across all platforms to expand their audiences and monetise their games better.
The expansion into Kuala Lumpur is in line with the growing number of gamers and mobile game companies in Asia, enabling Xsolla to provide products that align with market needs and help its partners engage directly with consumers.
“We welcome Xsolla’s entry into Malaysia. Their confidence in our digital content ecosystem is a glowing endorsement of Malaysia’s capabilities and capacities,” said Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation chief executive officer, Mahadhir Aziz.
“We will continue to facilitate further expansion and growth of key partners in utilising the nation as a hub to land, and expand to the wider Southeast Asian region.
“With the new national strategic initiative – Malaysia Digital – in place, we are confident that Malaysia will continue to be the digital hub of choice,” added Mahadhir.
Xsolla supports major gaming companies, including Valve, Twitch, Roblox, Ubisoft, Epic Games, Nexters, Playstudios, Playrix, miHoYo, Pearl Abyss, and NCSoft.
