World No. 2 badminton player Lee Zii Jia is looking for a new edge to take him to the next level after an amicable parting of ways with Indra Wijaya on Friday.
Indra, who is in Jakarta for a holiday, confirmed the parting of ways, saying Lee wanted a different approach.
“It was an amicable parting. We had discussions, and on Friday, we decided our partnership would end on Nov 30,” said Indra.
“He said he does not need a coach for now, and I wish Zii Jia all the best. I will take a short break before planning my next move.
“Now that I am free, I am open to coaching anyone who is interested in my services.”
Indra, who played for Indonesia and Singapore, was a bronze medallist in the 1997 World Cup for Indonesia and won the Thomas Cup (1998) and Asian Cup (1997) for this country of birth.
He won a bronze medal for Singapore at the 2001 Asian Badminton Championships.
Before moving to Malaysia in 2016, Indra was a coach of the South Korean national team.
In February, he quit the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) to become Zii Jia’s personal coach when the latter became an independent player.
