MAEPS Food Hunt will quash your hunger pangs

MAEPS Food Hunt

Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS), famous for hosting the biennial Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism (MAHA) and many other mega events, is now stamping its mark as a food hub.

MAEPS launched its Food Hunt on April 1, allowing visitors a chance to try the food at its various eateries while savouring the sights and sounds of the park throughout the three-hour four-course trail.

The journey begins at Herbs Garden for appetiser. Visitors will experience picking ‘leaves’ and learning about the plants.

Completing the meal is a refreshing drink made from mint and lemongrass which helps neutralise the effect of the chillies. The lack of variety is evident but more will certainly be offered once the garden matures.

The journey continues to House of Kambing (HOK) for the second course where lamb stew and garlic bread are served. Its fried rice with grilled and fried lamb is an option for the main course.

What makes the meal enjoyable there is the view of MAEPS’ eco-park.

The other option for the main course is nasi kandar at Nasi Kandar Melayu Apollo. The main dish consists of mixed curry, crispy fried chicken, sauteed cabbage, salted egg, hard-boiled egg (yes, two eggs), okra and raw chilli.

Those with time to spare can fish at the nearby lake or simply feed the fish. There are also children’s bicycles for rent.

Guests opting for western cuisine can head to Goat 2 Go for Aglio Olio with grilled lamb, homemade mashed potatoes, coleslaw and garlic bread in a Wild West setting, complete with straw hats.

While not part of the Food Hunt, the G2G Animal Farm next door allows you to pet and play with the animals.

The final leg of the tour is Laman Nanas where patrons are served pineapple products. Expect freshly cut MD2 pineapples, fresh MD2 pineapple juice, pineapple tarts and there’s also pineapple coffee.

Priced at RM65 per person, the Food Hunt is MAEPS’ latest way of innovating itself while luring more patrons to the venue.
