The Milan Club Singapore can trace back its origins to 2006 when several members gathered to watch the World Cup final and got to know other AC Milan fans.
The initial members comprised those who got to know one another through legendary online messaging platforms like mIRC, MSN Messenger, and such. In 2008, a Facebook group was co-created by Lee Chern San and Yvette Lim for AC Milan fans. At that time, the group was called AC Milan Singapore.
The Facebook group became a page in 2013, and in line with the majority of the AC Milan supporters group globally, the fan club’s name was changed to Milan Club Singapore.
Today, they occasionally organise live match day viewing, but like other non-English, European fan clubs, it is a challenge for them to do so due to the timing of the matches and the lack of possible venues to host them.
Nevertheless, there are some truly passionate fans who have opened their homes for small groups to gather and watch Milan play in the wee hours. They would occasionally meet for a meal or to have a friendly futsal kickabout.
Members of Milan Club Singapore competed in the recently concluded Fan Club Futsal League, where they finished in fifth. One of their players, Kartikesan Mohantes was voted by his peers as the Most Valuable Player.
They have their very own Serie A Fantasy Football League too, hosted at fantaliveseriea.com.
The club’s objective is to build a strong community of AC Milan fans in Singapore, and they believe there are more AC Milan fans in the republic who they will try to reach out to, and engage with.
There have been several attempts in the past to make this fan club an officially affiliated supporters club, but due to logistical and other challenges, they have yet to make it happen.
Despite being “unofficial”, their parent club did reach out to them to request some footage of them celebrating the club clinching their 19th Scudetto in May this year.
Interested Milan fans can connect with them through their social media pages – Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
They have also got a private WhatsApp group that becomes livelier on Milan’s match days. Forza!
