New manager needs to fix Manchester United’s centreback woes

Whoever comes in as the next Manchester United manager, the key area for improvement is the team’s central defence.

This Manchester United team lacks quality centrebacks – the kind of centrebacks that actually have class.

Harry Maguire cost an arm and a leg but has anyone noticed why he is allowed to bring the ball out of defence? That’s because the opposing teams always allow an unreliable defender to have the ball because he will only give it back to you!

Playing two or three at the back, has not made a difference for Manchester United, when you consider the other two are Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof.

There’s a need for someone to partner Raphael Varane, surprisingly bought after someone at MU realised they had a problem with its centreback.

In Florence, there’s an enterprising Serbian centreback who is ready for a move. Nikola Milenkovic could be bought at a reasonable price in January because after the World Cup in Qatar, his value is going to double.

Oh, and Manchester United needs a rightback too!
