Jurgen Klopp was happy when Jose Mourinho was named Tottenham manager in November.
He should be as the German has directly or indirectly been responsible for Mourinho being sacked not once, not twice but three times!
Most recently, Mourinho was given the boot when Liverpool beat Manchester United 3-1 in December 2018.
Five years earlier, Klopp’s Borussia Dortmund thrashed Real Madrid 4-1 in the Champions League semifinals while in 2015, Liverpool beat then reigning champion Chelsea 3-1 in the Premier League.
Those defeats eventually led to Mourinho getting the sack.
The Portuguese, once called the ‘Special One’, is now more like the ‘Special Once’ as he has lost his aura.
Known for his defensive strategies, it is surprising that Tottenham has only kept two clean sheets since his arrival.
Having said that, nothing will please him more than putting one over Klopp and end Liverpool’s unbeaten run.
He has faced Liverpool 28 times in his career when managing in England and has a good record.
In his two spells with Chelsea, he played Liverpool 23 times and won 11 matches and drew and lost six times each.
When he was with Manchester United he won once, lost twice and drew four times.
But in head-to-head meetings, Klopp leads with four wins to two defeats with four draws.
It all points to an exciting clash tomorrow morning (1.30am in Malaysia).
Separately, defending champion Manchester City faces a stern test away to Aston Villa while second-placed Leicester hosts a rejuvenated Southampton.
