Unified passion makes patriotic Gleam Auto Detailing shine

As history was made at the Sepang International Circuit on Aug 30, one unassuming brand turned several heads.

Gleam Auto Detailing may have played bridesmaid in the ‘Largest Mini Cooper Parade with Jalur Gemilang’, but the auto detailing company made an impression with their spotless, immaculate, and Instagrammable vehicles at the circuit.

The event featured 190 Mini Coopers, and was held ahead of the Aug 31 Merdeka celebrations. The feat was acknowledged by the Malaysian Book of Records.

“First of all, it’s for Merdeka and it was also an automotive event. It was a good opportunity for us to be a part of history,” said one of Gleam Auto Detailing’s founders, Mohd Syamil Chin Abdullah.

“It was a great way for us to showcase our philosophy, that it’s time we buried our differences and celebrate togetherness through our passion for vehicles.”

“It was also a good way to get the attention of vehicle owners. We also connect with car clubs as these guys are very particular about how their cars are cleaned,” added Syamil, who turns 48 on Sept 10.

Gleam is founded by four car lovers who met at a car club.

“We frequently enjoy breakfast drives over the weekends, and we take loads of pictures. We make sure our cars are in perfect condition, so keeping them clean was part of our SOP (standard operating procedure),” Syamil said in jest.

“We told ourselves that people need to clean their cars and it needs to be done the right way. That’s how Gleam Auto Detailing was born.”

Syamil explained that his Puchong-based auto detailing hub prides itself in using the right procedures and tools when detailing vehicles. Gleam does not discriminate too, as it attends to a wide spectrum of vehicles, from supercars to underbone motorcycles.

“We stress a lot on the correct procedures when detailing a car, and the proper tools, and of course, quality products, like Koch-Chemie. These are some of the few things that can be seen when we get the job done.

“People are becoming increasingly aware of the need to detail and care for their vehicles. They see the value in sending their vehicles to be detailed. Our rates are value for money.

“The first thing we recommend is paint correction, followed by surface protection. The job required would also depend on your lifestyle, as in how often you use your vehicle.”

Syamil said that Gleam Auto Detailing will participate in a Malaysia Day event on Sept 16. It is organised by the M-Owners Malaysia club, comprising owners of BMW M-series cars, at LaLaport in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.

“It’s a day-long event. We will have a booth there. It’s once again our way of being a part of the Malaysia Day celebrations. Those wanting to know more about auto detailing and our services can come visit us there.

“In the spirit of Merdeka and Malaysia Day, let’s always remember that our unified passion makes us stronger.”
