Get off your couch and start training as a uniquely titled fun run is coming your way in November.
Organised by news portal Twentytwo13 and supported by Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur Athletics Association (FTKLAA), the ‘Sila Lari, Jangan Duduk’ Fun Run 2018 will be held on Nov 4, 2018 at Padang Merbok, Kuala Lumpur.
Following the statement by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V, who had just before officiating the Dewan Rakyat session after the change in government, said: “Sila duduk, jangan lari”, Twentytwo13 came up with T-shirts bearing his statement.
The T-shirts were a hit and the team decided to take it a step further – and with a play of words – by organising the 5km fun run.
Why a fun run? It’s to:
- Get more people to participate in an active lifestyle.
- See families and friends bond in a healthy, happy environment.
- Inject laughter and fun in our lives.
Twentytwo13 has pledged to channel part of the profit towards FTKLAA’s development fund.
“As a journalist for close to 20 years, I have always had a soft spot for development as I started my career covering the school sports and saw many athletes who graduated to become champions,” said Twentytwo13 editor Haresh Deol
“I believe more can be done to nurture or create future champions.”
“As such, we have spoken to FTKLAA and will pledge a percentage of any profit towards its development kitty. Hopefully, this will be an example to others to contribute for the grassroots.”
New FTKLAA president Datuk S. Vegiyathuman said he expects runners to flock to the run due to its unique name and well-designed medals and T-shirts.
“It is FTKLAA’s responsibility to help any organiser who respects the rules and regulations in a run. It is our duty to promote athletics and runs,” he said.
“We are especially delighted to be part of ‘Sila Lari Jangan Duduk’ Fun Run 2018 as the name is witty and catchy.”
“I’m sure many runners will be attracted. I was also impressed with the medals which the finishers will receive. Like the name of the event, it is also unique.”
He was pleasantly surprised that Twentytwo13 has pledged to present part of the profits to FTKLAA for its development fund.
