Art exhibition to delight movie fans, collectors

For the first time in Asia, fans of DC, Walt Disney, and Universal, will have the opportunity to visit an exhibition of the Limited Edition Ghost White Pearl Gloss 24k Gold Series paintwork collectibles.

This unique paint work is done meticulously by hand, on a range of high-end collectibles by professionals with over 20 years of experience in the industry. Due to the unique hand-painted coatings, the collectibles appreciate in value over time.

Hollywood Malaysia Flash Museum is teaming up with Hollywood Treasures, Seremban Chicken Porridge, and Aeon Mall to display the collection on Sept 15-17, Sept 22-24, and Oct 6-7 at Aeon Mall in Seremban 2, Negeri Sembilan.

Best of all, the entrance is free.

Among the items on display will be collections from the three studios, including from the Star Wars franchise, and the first-of-its-kind Hellboy collectible.

Hollywood Treasures owner Wong Jin Zhen also promised a surprise for horror movie fans.

“I am excited to hold this exhibition in Malaysia as it is the first time something like this is being held in Asia,” said Wong, the curator for a personal collector who owns several autographed movie scripts and other collectibles, including exclusive NFTs (non-fungible tokens).

“There will also be a special exhibition during this event that will blow the minds of movie fans, especially those who love the horror genre.

“I cannot say more at this juncture as I do not want to spoil the surprise.”

Wong said the company had planned to organise an exhibition in Malaysia since last year.

“Besides movie memorabilia, we have a sporting collection too,” said Wong, who held an exhibition of football collectibles in Phuket, Thailand, in August, 2022.

“Among the collection was a replica of the Jules Rimet trophy made from the original mould of the first World Cup.

“We also have signed jerseys of legendary footballers and winners’ medals from several tournaments, including the Champions League.”

Wong said the collector was a private person who did not like to give interviews, but was ever-willing to share his ‘treasures’ for others to enjoy.

“That is why we are not charging an entrance fee. If this exhibition is successful, the collector hopes to have more shows around Malaysia,” said Wong.

“We want all Malaysians to enjoy these treasures.

“So, please do visit us in Seremban. You will not regret it.”

INTERCOM BLUES

The home minister’s car had a flat tyre on Tuesday, and a kind soul helped her change it at a petrol station.

So, on Wednesday, she took my car. I used her car to pick our daughter up from school and decided to bring her for lunch at a mall.

Unfortunately, my Touch ‘n Go card was not with me, so I used my debit card to enter the parking lot.

The display unit showed ‘transaction completed’, but the bar did not go up. After speaking into the intercom for about 10 minutes, I was allowed in.

Later, when I tried to exit, the display unit showed ‘no record of entry’.

I had to speak to someone via the intercom, who berated me for not using the same card as before – I did – and that I should have used the Touch ‘n Go card instead.

I kept explaining, but the guy did not want to listen – and demanded to know how I entered the parking lot.

I reversed, parked in a corner and continued speaking to the guy, asking for a solution. He kept insisting that I did not follow the instructions.

The conversation continued until a security guard emerged. After explaining what had happened, I paid in cash and was allowed to exit.

Sigh, do not leave home without your Touch ‘n Go card.

CHEERS, JIMMY BUFFETT

Jimmy Buffett, known for his ‘tropical rock music’, died of Merkel Cell Skin Cancer last Friday. He was 76.

An American singer-songwriter, author, and businessman, Buffett got his big break with the hit single ‘Margaritaville’, released on Feb 14, 1977.

It was described as ‘popularising beach bum soft rock with the escapist Caribbean-flavoured song’ and helped Buffett turn that celebration of loafing into a billion-dollar empire of restaurants, resorts, and frozen concoctions.

The song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2016.

Buffett called his music “drunken Caribbean rock ‘n’ roll”, released over 30 albums, and dabbled in acting.

Goodbye Jimmy, it is five o’clock somewhere.
