King, Queen get first-hand look at flood situation

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah visited several locations in Kuala Lumpur last night and today to check on the flood situation and the victims.

Al-Sultan Abdullah visited the affected areas near the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur last night and visited flood victims at the Sultan Sulaiman Club evacuation centre in Kampung Baru this morning.

The King said the disaster reminded him of the major floods that occurred in Kuala Lumpur in 1971.

Tunku Azizah, meanwhile, visited several flood locations in the city.

Thousands nationwide had been displaced following two days of torrential rain, which caused major floods. Some residents remained cut off in their homes and on rooftops, especially in Taman Sri Muda, Shah Alam, as rescue personnel scrambled to reach them.
