KUALA LUMPUR: This week’s video game round-up focuses on Southeast Asian indie titles set for release this year that we are particularly excited about.

Kriegsfront Tactics

If you yearn for turn-based, mecha-customising combat reminiscent of the Front Mission series, Kriegsfront Tactics delivers. Set in an alternate Southeast Asia, the game imagines a region where guerrilla wars and revolutions are settled through battles involving giant, legged war machines.

Agni: Village of Calamity

A 3D survival horror game in which players take on the role of Agni, a police officer who breaks protocol to investigate a haunted site in a bid to rescue missing people. Gameplay features running, hiding, limited combat and several formidable enemies designed to keep players on edge.

Lost & Found Co.

A cosy adventure game centred on searching for hidden objects while soaking in its distinctly Thai aesthetic, developed by Bit Egg Inc. Players assume the role of Ducky, an employee at Goddess Mei’s company, which specialises in recovering lost items for eccentric clients.

Coffee Talk Tokyo

A laid-back visual novel where players brew coffee and tea for patrons in a modern-day, fantasy-infused alternate universe inhabited by yokai and mythical humanoid creatures living alongside humans. The previous Coffee Talk titles were widely praised, and this new instalment is expected to carry the same relaxed charm.

Overhours

An upcoming isometric tower defence action game that blends workplace culture with anthropomorphic animals, packed with traps and gadgets. Players can replay waves and stages to achieve higher scores and unlock bigger bonuses.

Kooeh: A Timeless Delight

A heart-warming, narrative-driven restaurant management game about rediscovering lost family recipes and reviving a family eatery. The title draws heavily on Malaysian food culture and its rich culinary history.
