Representatives from Istana Negara will shed protocol in exchange for fun during Twentytwo13‘s Sila Lari, Jangan Duduk Fun Run 2018.
The team, comprising members of the palace’s Welfare and Sports Club, is eager to take part in the 5km event on Nov 4 at Padang Merbok, Kuala Lumpur.
“We were pleasantly surprised and excited when told about the fun run. Sila Lari, Jangan Duduk is indeed a catchy name for a running event,” said Istana Negara public relations officer and club president Husni Yusop.
“His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V had said ‘sila duduk, jangan lari’ in Parliament and the title of this event is a play of words of what was said.”
“So we are happy to be part of it and will send eight runners for the event.”
Sultan Muhammad V had said the words just before officiating at the Dewan Rakyat session in July following a walkout the day before by opposition MPs.
It was deemed by many as the statement of the year.
Husni, who will trade his suit and tie for sneakers and tracksuit on Nov 4, said running was a healthy activity and his colleagues from Istana Negara were eager to advocate a healthy lifestyle.
The event is supported by the Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur Athletics Association (FTKLAA).
